Common shares are shares of stock that are understood to signify equity ownership in a corporation.

Class A shares is a term for both stocks and mutual funds. With stocks, Class A shareholders have the most rights of any shares issued by the company. So, why would an investor purchase a class a share over a common share?

Bonus Shares : Shares allotted to the existing shareholders by capitalising the reserves into additional capital. When market expects a company to come out with a Bonus Issue, the price of the shares normally goes up.

Index shares, also called Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), trade on the major stock exchanges like ordinary stocks, but with one major difference: rather than representing an individual stock, each ETF tracks an entire basket of securities.

An index is an indicator of how the stock market is doing on the whole. An index comprises a basket of stocks. The collective value of these stocks on a given date is taken and given a score of 100.

Income Shares
A class of capital stock that is issued by a split investment company or a dual purpose mutual fund. Owners receive dividends and interest generated from the income shares and from capital shares, another class of capital stock.
