SHORT POSITION - A trading inventory position reflecting a sale by a broker-dealer of securities that it did not own at the time of sale. See: SHORT SALE.
Short coupon
A bond payment covering less than six-months' interest, because the original issue date is less than six months from the first scheduled interest payment. A bond with a short time to maturity, usually two years or less.
Short Coupons: Bonds and notes with short current maturities.

short coupon A bond interest payment covering less than the usual six-month period, often the bond's first coupon. short cover The repurchasing of a previously sold contract. Also known as cover.
