Non-Trend Day
A narrow range day lacking any discernible movement in either direction.
Trend Day A day in which the price of a futures contract moves consistently away from the opening range and does not return to the opening range prior to the close.
Trend-Following Moving in the direction of the prevailing price movement.
Trend Day - long term buyer/seller takes control of the Order Flow throughout the RTH session. Trend Timeframing is a conspicuous characteristic of a Trend Day.
Down Trend Day: -DM is that part of today's range that is below yesterdays low
Inside Day: ZERO DM
Outside Day: +DM or -DM depending upon which 'outside' range is greater. If both are same then ZERO ...
The strongest trend days appear when there's synergy between the prerelease bias and subsequent news. The broad market can gap up and hold above the opening price easily when these two forces work together.
An examination of problematic trend days reveals that these begin with a gap at the open in which price moves sharply up or down relative to the last trade of the previous day.
The mat hold candlestick pattern while similar to the rising three method is easier to identify and the counter trend days are less concerning. This pattern also signifies a resting period but again it does not create the same amount of concern.
The following Wednesday the stock traded through the top of the channel, and that started a solid trend day which is way for day traders to play. Two days later the stock again traded down through the channel's bottom, and a 2-day drop began.
This technique is very simple and straightforward, to help you maintain consistency during your trading, with very little effort and a high probability of success. It works both in range-bound markets as well as on trend days.
The Aligator indicator is one addition to the lagging indicators out there. is late to confirm entries, but work better during trend days.
