Both call options and put options are considered wasting assets, or are said to have "time decay." This means that because they are contractual agreements, they only have a limited lifespan.

Options are considered "wasting assets." In other words, they have a limited life because each expires on a certain day, although it may be weeks, months, or years away.

Options can be termed "wasting assets." Over time, as expiration draws near, TV will get smaller and smaller until there's finally no remaining time and TV = 0. Thus, at expiry, the value of the option is simply IV.

Land is not subject to depreciation because it is not a wasting asset.

For fixed assets, the term used is depreciation, and for wasting assets, it is depletion. Both terms mean essentially the same thing as amortization. The purpose of amortization is to reflect resale or redemption value.
