Clos Roche Blanche 2004 Touraine Pineau d'Aunis Rosé ($11.99)
This is a very pale but pretty blushing-pink wine with a light copper-salmon hue.

 


PINEAU D'AUNIS: (a.k.a Aunis). Ancient and increasingly rare variety used to create good rosé and red wines in the Touraine and Anjou-Saumur AOC's of the Loire region in France. Has the synonym name Chenin Noir in California.

One of the main wines produced in this area is Rosé d'Anjou, mainly produced with Grolleau grape to which is often added Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon Cőt (Malbec), Pineau d'Aunis and Gamay.

Also eligible are Grolleau Gris and Noir, the two Cabernets again, Pineau d'Aunis and Pinot Noir.

PINEAU D'AUNIS
lack type of vine cultivated in certain areas of the Loire Valley, and giving a wine little coloured.
PINOT NOIR
Black type of vine, cultivated in particular in Burgundy, which gives wines rather little coloured but of long guard.
