Barrel-fermented
A term used for wines that are fermented in oak containers. The benefit of this method is the development of a more subtle oak character than that of barrel-aged only wines.
Barrel-fermented. Some white wines, notably Chardonnay, may be fermented in barrels rather than in stainless steel to impart a subtle oak character.

Barrel-fermented
Barrel-fermented wines, usually white and often Chardonnays, have been fermented in oak containers. Fermenting wines in oak barrels tends to impart a more subtle oak character than simply aging them in oak barrels.
To be honest, this wine is barrel-fermented and aged, though I suspect "seasoned" barrels, because the oak is content to play second-fiddle to the fruit. Only about 25% of the wine gets malolactic, which also helps.
