Barsac is a town and commune on the left bank of the Garonne river in the Gironde département in southwest France. The town gives its name to a winemaking appellation, that produces sweet white wines.

Sauternes and Barsac wines are classified according to French quality system Appellation d'Origine Contrõlée (AOC).

Barsac
Barsac is a fruity, sweet, dessert wine made from the sauvignon, semillon and muscadelle grapes in the southern region of Bordeaux. The wine's aromas and flavors include honey, dried figs and acacia. Barsac pairs well with blue cheeses.

Sauternes and Barsac are French wines made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes. These wines are of a rich golden color and have a surprisingly rich honeyed sweetness.
