Bastardo is a type of red grape used in Portuguese port wine. It is generally considered an inferior port wine grape, especially when compared to such varieties as Touriga Nacional.

Also known as, Trousseau, Triffault, Toussot, Cabernet Gros, Trousse.

The most cultivated red berried grapes of this region are Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro Preto, Jaée and Bastardo, whereas the most cultivated white berried grape is Encruzado.

A mutation of the Trousseau grape grown in the Jura region of France. Possibly identical to the Grey Riesling of California, unrelated to the Riesling cepage. Possibly also identical to the Bastardo of Portugal and the Cabernet Gros of Australia.

Something of a mystery grape, it may also be the variety known as Bastardo in both Australia and Portugal. Also called Cabernet Gros in Australia. A mutation known as Trousseau Gris is also found in France.
