BLANC DE VALDIGNE: Indigenous variety grown in the Val d'Aosta region of Italy. Used to create a white wine varietal reportedly possessed of a mildly aromatic fragrance and, in some cases spritzy, delicately crisp flavor.
The vines of Valle d'Aosta often have French names - Petit Rouge, Gros Vien, Blanc de Valdigne, for instance - due to the Savoyard history of the region.
