BLAUER PORTUGIESER: (aka Portugieser, see below.)
BOBAL: Red wine grape extensively grown in Spain. Produces deeply colored wine suitable for blending.

Origin: (/St. Laurent x Blauer Portugieser/ x Alibernet).It was cultivated by Professor V. Kraus in Lednice (Moravia) in 1965. In the Czech Republic, it is seldom grown (only 0,2 % of the entire vineyard areas).

After the Ottoman Empire ceded Hungary to the Austrians in 1699, the Germanic influence was felt with the introduction of grape varieties such as Blauer Portugieser.
