Brown Sugar: Sugar crystals coated in a molasses syrup with natural flavor and color. Many sugar refiners produce brown sugar by boiling a special molasses syrup until brown sugar crystals form. A centrifuge spins the crystals dry.

Wash and dry the plums, remove the stones, and place the fruit in a small saucepan with the brown sugar and vinegar. Cook on high heat for three minutes. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and cool in the saucepan.

When made in a traditional style, Tempranillo can be garnet-hued, with flavors of tea, brown sugar and vanilla.
