CHARBONO (Red) [SHAR-bono]
Found mainly in California (and possibly actually Dolcetto), this grape has dwindled in acreage. Its stature as a wine was supported mainly by Inglenook-Napa Valley , which bottled a Charbono on a regular basis.

A red-wine grape found in small vineyards in California. Could be a clone of the Douce Noir grape found in the Savoie region of France, better known as the Dolcetto grape widely grown in northern Italy.

CHARBONO: Is a californian alias name for the french Douce Noire variety. Many other synonym names (noted in the Geilweilerhof database above) include Corbeau Noire.

After lunch and wine (of course), we were asked to punch down a small batch of Charbono, being made exclusively for their wine club members. The batch was in white plastic bins as opposed to the large metal tanks used for large volumes of production.

Most wineries offer tastes of small-production wines that never leave the tasting room. Forget the Chardonnay and try the Malbec or the Charbono. This is your chance to try something new, with minimal risk.

She is responsible for proving that Zinfandel, Primitivo, and Crljenak Kaštelanski are identical, [1] as well as Charbono and Corbeau.

Usually made into fast maturing, fruity and robust dark red wine with faintly bitter flavor. May be identical with the Douce Noir grape of the Savoie region of France and the variety known as Charbono in California.
