Compact: Used when a wine is intense, but not full.
Complex: Describes a wine with multiple layers of flavors and bouquet that are well balanced. A common attribute of a classic wine.

Concentrated. Dense aromas and flavors.

The clusters are compact and full and the berry stems (peduncles) somewhat short. These factors make Zinfandel somewhat susceptible to bunch rot and some types of mildew. Water management is particularly critical to raising Zinfandel.

In winemaking, the term refers to the process of settling or compacting of lees or sediment. Lightly or loosely flocculated lees are less dense than tightly or compactly flocculated ones and contain more wine in them.

Coolers are also quite compact in size.
Wine refrigerators also come in many types, from smaller versions that store a few bottles to larger compartmentalized versions with separate temperature controlled compartments for reds and whites.

The bounches of grapes are medium size, they have piramidal and compact form. The skin is thick, thougt and tannic. The vineculture area is not only located in Lessini mountains, but also, on the hills near Pontremoli in Alta Lunigiana.

Compact, ripe, healthy berries yielded vigorous wines with big flavours and alcohols. Some excellent Cabs, Syrahs/Shirazes, Bordeaux-style blends and 'Cape Blends' with pinotage.

The bunches are of medium size, elongated, cylindrical, compact and sometimes winged. The berries are medium-sized, usually round, transparent but becoming opaque on maturity and golden yellow in colour with reddish spots.

After the broad sweep of the premier cru vineyards of Beaune, itself a large urban sprawl, we arrive at Pommard and then Volnay, two much smaller and more compact villages that lie to the southwest of the Côte de Beaune's capital.

Tight: Describes a wine's structure, concentration and body, as in a "tightly wound" wine. Closed or compact are similar terms.
Tinny: Metallic tasting.
Tired: Limp, feeble, lackluster.

The domaine's vineyards are managed with a large nod to biodynamic principles and organic agriculture, with tractors recently being replaced by horses to reduce the compaction of soil.

This variety, widely planted in Hungary, ripens early with difficulty to give compact clusters of med/large, yellowish berries. Susceptible to various rot diseases.

TIGHT: Describes a wine's structure, concentration or body. Although a temporary condition that is most common with younger wines that have high aging expectations, a wine at any age may exhibit this quality. Closed or compact are similar terms.

If used to remove the brown colour, it should be used in conjunction with carbon. Use at the rates between 0.12 to 0.72 grams per litre. As it is also a very fine powder, adding bentonite will compact the sediment.

Vigorous and productive, on Richter 110 and Ruggeri 140R rootstocks, the cultivar is self-fertile, resulting in medium size, moderately compact fruit clusters.

Noted for aromatic flavors. The vine is vigorous with medium productivity, giving round mid-sized berries in small medium-compact bunches. Reportedly there are no known synonyms or record of plantings elsewhere.

The soil of the towns of Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba and Monforte d'Alba, less compact and less fertile than the other two towns, produces more robust and intense wines which usually age slower.

Compact Opposite of "open knit". A wine with a dense perception fruit that is balanced by the weight of tannins and acidity.
