The small corkage-over-retail pricing for restaurant wine is not unique to Iron Bridge (Evening Star Café in Alexandria, Va., uses it, as does Tastings in Charlottesville), but it is a welcome relief from typical restaurant markups.
If you have a special bottle that you would like to bring to a restaurant that serves wine, call ahead and ask them if it's OK and what their "corkage" fee is. Most good restaurants are accommodating.
Call ahead and ask if you can bring your own bottle, and ask about the corkage fee. From the response, you'll get a sense of how the restaurant really feels about this. The corkage fee will tell you something, too.
