Cornas

Wine CornalinCorrect

Cornas is another favourite appellation of mine, not least because some great Rhône wines can be had at some very fair prices. They are red wines made from 100% Syrah, and they can be impenetrably dark and intensely, richly flavoured.

Cornas (Cor-nahs) - Northern Rhone wine region, making a fine, ageworthy wine from Syrah.
Cosecha (Coh-SAY-cha) - Spanish for "vintage." ...

Cornas (cor-nahss)
A tiny wine producing commune in the northern Rhone in France. The red wines from this town are made from the grape Syrah.
Cortese (cor-teh'-zeh) ...

Saint-Joseph and Cornas
Saint-Joseph is a pretty large wine area which is located in the left bank of the Rhõne river. This appellation was recognized in 1956 and - at those times - the fame of its wines was pretty high.

Excellent Hermitage and Cornas - full and long-lived. The best St Josephs and Crozes reds will live for 10 years. Excellent year for Chateauneuf, Gigondas and Vacqueyras - all achieved good ripeness, with plenty of tannic support.

The Northern Rhône is the home of the Syrah grape (aka Shiraz), which makes full flavoured, meaty, structured red wines in the Appellations of Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Cornas, Côte-Rôtie and St Joseph.

A few famous Northern Rhõne wines made from Syrah are Hermitage, Cõte Rõtie, Saint-Joseph and Cornas. In the southern Rhõne, Syrah is blended with other varieties such as Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cinsault to make Châteauneuf-de-Pape.

Hermitage AOC - reds with Syrah and up to 15% Marsanne and Roussanne, whites with Marsanne and Roussanne
Cornas - reds with only Syrah
Saint-Péray - sparkling and still whites with Marsanne and Roussanne ...
