One of the red wine grapes of Bordeaux, France (where it is called cot or pressac).

MALBEC: Semi-classic grape grown in the Bordeaux region of France and in other areas under the name Cot and in the Alsace has the local name Auxerrois. Also grown in the cooler regions of California.

Auxerrois: Also known as Malbec or Cot, Auxerrois creates a neutral wine, fruity and soft. It is mainly grown in Luxembourg and Canada. In Alsace it is ofted blended with the Pinot Blanc grape.

It reminds me more of Cot and traditional Argentine Malbec than the over-saturated, jammy Malbecs that have been flooding the market recently - which to me is a breath of fresh air.
