Criolla

Wine CrianzaCriolla Chica

CRIOLLA GRANDE: (See Criolla Chica above).
CROATINA: Minor grape grown in the Piedmont, (Piemonte), region of Italy. The Bonarda of the "Colli Piacentini" and "Oltrepo Pavese" is actually this grape.

CRIOLLA GRANDE: (See Criolla Chica above).
CRLJENAK KASTELJANSKI: (Pronounced "curl-yen-ik kastel-yanskee"). Has synonym names Pribidrag and Tribidrag. Variety indigenous to Croatia, a former province of Yugoslavia.

The two most popular species of the country are Criolla Grande and Cereza.

It shares many biological and ampelographic characteristics with the old Spanish variety Monica or Criolla, of which it may be a clone.

It is probably thesame as the Pais grape of Chile and the Criolla grape of Argentina. Never a quality grape, it has largely been forgotten about and removed from vineyards throughout the New World.

California has two native grape varieties, but they make very poor quality wine. Therefore, the missionaries used the Mission grape, which is called Criolla or "colonialized European" in South America.
