The Cru Bourgeois classification lists some of the high quality wines from the Bordeaux region of France that were not included in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
Cru Bourgeois (French term)

Cru. Literally, a growth or a particular vineyard of merit.
Cru classé. a classified growth. A cru that has been formally recognized.
Cru :Meaning "growth" or "vineyard" in French, this term is often used in quality classifications. In Bordeaux, the highest quality wines are called Premiers Crus and in Burgundy, Grands Crus.
"Cru" is important in understanding French wine because it's used in the classification of specific vineyards ... and it's complicated because the details of such classification vary among regions.
