Cuvée (or Cuvee on some English language labels) is a French term used on wine labels to denote wine of a specific blend or batch. The word originates from the French word cuve meaning "vat".

Cuvée: French winemaking term relating to the specially blended base white wine that will be made to undergo a secondary fermentation in the production of sparkling wines. It also refers to a blend of different wines in general.

There are a number of domaines making Savennieres that merits attention, led by Florent Baumard who produces three cuvées, those of the Clos du Papillon being the best in my opinion, and by Claude Papin of Chateau Pierre-Bise.

Before bottling, the winemaker conducts blending trials, combining small samples of cuvées or batches of wine from different grape varieties, or vineyards, or of different vintages, in varying combinations until the wine tastes best.

They used to be called "Tête de Cuvée". They are the best among the best: Chambertin, Clos Vougeot, Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Montrachet, Musigny, La Tache ... Only the name of the vineyard figures on the label of Bourgogne "Grand Cru".
