DARK FRUIT
Describes a wine as having the taste of Dark Fruit such as Black Berries or Black Cherry.

 


Deep, dark fruit in the form of blueberry, plum and currant debut on the palate, surrounded by a lovely mix of dark chocolate, espresso and black pepper spice. The tannins are tame, the finish is strong and the fruit is top notch.

They both create rich, robust wines with a smooth texture and signature aromas of spice, pepper, clove and licorice leading, followed by dark fruit such as blackcurrant, blackberry, plum and black cherry, as well as truffle, earth, violets, vanilla, ...

Typically, there will be dark fruity berry, cherry, and cassis characteristics that may combine with other plum fruit as well as chocolate, herbs, and notes of leather.

Amongst the best of the hedgerow fare is the blackberry - small dark fruits just bursting with sweet juice! So why not go out for a walk in the country, gather a basket full and try making this delicious winter warmer! ...

Petite Sirah (Durif): earthy, black pepper, dark fruits.
Petit Verdot: banana (when young), violets (when aged).
Pinot Noir: raspberry, cherry, violets, "farmyard" (with age), truffles.
Pinotage: banana, bramble fruits.

Magliocco Canino was once perhaps the most widespread red grape variety in the Calabria region of southern Italy. It fell out of favor but has recently been revived. Its wines have an aroma of dark fruit and taste of pepper and spice as well.

" Tannin is found naturally in the stems, skins and pips (seeds) of most red and dark fruit such as grapes, elderberries, sloes, apples, and plums, but also in pear skins, oak leaves, and dark tea leaves.
