Year Dates on Wine Bottles
The vintage of a wine is the date the grapes for that wine were picked. That is, say vines are making grapes in September 2007. The vineyard manager picks those grapes in September 2007.
Candidates must sit both the theory (four papers) and practical (three blind tastings) parts of the examination in the same year. If they achieve success in only one part, however, they may attempt the remaining part in the subsequent two years.
Tour dates are Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, 2004, just 2 1/2 months away, and the size of the tour group will be strictly limited in order to assure that we travel as a small group of wine-loving friends.
As with "dates," an aroma reminiscent of the fruit. May show in oaky Chardonnays or Sauvignon Blancs.

Don't be influenced by vintage dates. Certain vintages are especially valuable to the vineyards that produce wine and their prices may reflect that. Unless you know you love a certain vintage do not purchase a wine only for its date.
The internet is a wonderful tool, but one of the more annoying things about using it is that it's very difficult to discern how current much of the information is. With that in mind, I've put the dates of these articles [in brackets].
