Muscat de Frontignan is widely distributed but not always grown in large quantities, and while there is a stable white variety there are other sub-species which produce grapes of the three colours red, rosé and white on the same vine irregularly.

Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (also called Muscat Blanc, Muscat Canelli, Muscat Frontignan, Moscato Bianco, Muscat de Frontignan, Muscat d'Alsace, Muskateller, Muscatel de Grano Menudo, Moscatel Rosé, Sárgamuskotály and Yellow Muscat).

There are five AOC Vin Doux Naturels produced with Muscat grape in Languedoc-Roussillon: Muscat de Frontignan, Muscat de Lunel, Muscat de Mireval, Muscat de Rivesaltes and Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois.

Also known as, Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains, Muscat de Frontignan, Muscat d'Alsace, Frontignac, Muskateller, Gelber Muskateller, Weisse Muskettraube, Moscato Bianco, Moscatello Bianco, Moscatel de Grano Menudo, Moscatel Menudo Bianco, Moscatel Dorado, ...

the best known are muscatel Montalicino, Muscat Canelli, Moscadello yellow, Moscato di Trani, moscato d'Asti, Moscato Colli Hills, Moscato di Siracusa, Bear Sennori muscat, muscat real biblina, or muscat blanc à petit grains and Muscat de Frontignan ...

In many areas of France, it's called Muscat Frontignan, but in the Loire Valley it is known as Muscadet. In Italy, it goes by the alias Moscato di Canelli where it is also the base for asti spumante sweet sparklers.

The Herault plain also produces famous Muscats, with aromatic flavour, such as Frontignan or Mireval.
In the Aude the best liked wines are Minervois and Corbières.

Muscat
The Muscat family of grapes (which inclues Orange Muscat, Muscat Canelli and Muscat de Frontignan) all exhibit heady floral aromas while packing a strong fig-guava punch.
