Grape Tannin
Tannins are found primarily in the stems, skins and seeds of grapes, which are removed from white grapes before fermentation.

Extra tannin (wine tannin or grape tannin) often needs to be added to non-grape wines. The amount of tannin in a wine can be increased by enhancing extraction, achieved by prolonging the cuvaison.

In young reds look for tannin with layers of underlying fruit. An essential grape preservative; (grape tannin) derived from grape skins, seeds and stems during fermentation, or (wood tannin) from oak barrels.

Most grains, roots and flowers used in winemaking lack any or sufficient tannin, so must be supplemented with grape tannin or tannin from another source.
