Blaufränkisch is the official name for the variety of wine grape that is used to produce dry, red wines which are typically low in tannin and may exhibit a pronounced spicy character.

Also known as the Blauer Limberger or Lemberger . The latter name is used for the grape where found in Washington state in the U.S.

LIMBERGER (see Blaufrankisch above):
Also known as the Blauer Limberger or Lemberger. The latter name is used for the grape where found in Washington state in the U.S., which has sizable plantings of this variety at last report.

Red wine grapes grown, though not nearly to the extent of whites include Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Trollinger and Lemberger. If a bottle says "Riesling" on the label, you can bet that it maintains at least 85% Riesling within.
