MENCÍA: Light red wine variety widely grown in Galicia, N.W Spain. Has the synonym names Negra and Loureiro Tinto. Some insist the variety is a clone of Cabernet Franc. (No other details as yet).
Has the synonym names Negra and Loureiro Tinto. Recently found (1999) by Spanish researchers to be identical with the variety Jaen, although some growers still insist the variety is a mutated version of Cabernet Franc.
