Magnum
A large bottle equivalent to two standard bottles.
Malic Acid
The main acid of apples and also one of the acids found in grapes.
It encourages rapid fermentation and assists in producing aroma and flavour.

 


Magnum
A bottle of 1.5 litres, or two 0.75 litre bottles.
Malic acid
A colorless, crystalline compound, that is used as a flavoring and in the aging of wine. Malic acid is one of the main contributors to the acidity of a wine.

magnum: A 1.5 litre bottle.
malic acid : One of the two primary acids found naturally in grapes. Malic acid levels are higher in grapes grown in cool climates or under dense shaded grapevine canopies.

Magnum :
The contents of this bottle are twice as much as the capacity of a normal bottle. In other words this bottle contains one and a half litres. Bottles with a large capacity, like the magnum, allow certain red wines to age better.

Magnum
A large wine bottle, which holds the same as two normal bottles. The larger the bottle, the slower the wine ages. A magnum is the perfect size for aging great red wines, as it ages the wine slowly, but not too slowly.

A magnum is a very big wine bottle, (for those very big drinkers?) - 2 liters. This is another bottle you can find in - you guessed it - the "cheap" section.
Medoc
Medoc is a district in the Bordeaux region, known for it's red wine.

1. A gun. 2. A type of delicious ice cream. 3. A big bottle that holds 1.5 litres of wine, equivalent to two full bottles. Rather fun, and wine in magnums is supposed to age better than in standard 75 cl bottles.

Double magnum
An ultra-large bottle format that is usually only used for special releases. It holds 3 litres, or the contents of four regular bottles. Also sometimes called a jeroboam.

', or 'Magnum' - Back in the day the most basic, inexpensive wines were blends of cheaper grape varieties that were literally packed in jugs for mass consumption - hence the name 'jug wine.

Everyone brings their own wines to share, and tables are hosted by different wineries who usually bring magnums of some past vintage.

These terms, which include French bottle descriptions and approximate bottle sizes are: Split, equivalent to 187 ml or 1/4 of a standard wine bottle; Half bottle, 375 ml, Magnum, 1.

Champagne is mostly fermented in two sizes of bottles, standard bottles (750 mL), and magnums (1.5 L).

From magnum. Fantastic nose of dark berry, gorgeous oak, chocolate and coffee. The palate was rich and full with a magnificently long finish. Predictably tasting fresher than the Petaluma but also had the edge in quality for me.
