Primitivo di Manduria Primitivo is the most common grape of the central part of Apulia and with which is produced the famous Primitivo di Manduria, one of the most famous DOC areas of this region.
The DOCs of Castel del Monte, Salice Salentino, Copertino and Primitivo di Manduria have the best reputation. There is little wine of interest on Sardinia, but Sicily is an Italian wine region on the up.
