Methuselah (Mathusalem in French)
A large bottle format of 6 litres or eight 0.75 litre bottles.

 


Methuselah: An extra-large bottle holding 6 liters; the equivalent of eight standard bottles.
Murky: More than deeply colored; lacking brightness, turbid and sometimes a bit swampy. Mainly a fault of red wines.

Methuselah: Champagne bottle with a 6-liter capacity.
Millésime: French for vintage or year.

Methuselah - A large bottle holding six litres, the equivalent of eight regular wine bottles.
Microoxygenation - The controlled exposure of wine to small amounts of oxygen in the attempt to reduce the length of time required for maturation.

Methuselah
Large-format bottle that holds an enormous six litres of Champagne (eight bottles' worth). Go on, impress your friends. Let's hope it isn't *corked, though.

Jeroboam 4 bottles (a double magnum) = 3 litres
Rehoboarn 6 bottles = 4.5 litres
Methuselah 8 bottles = 6 litres
Salmanazar 12 bottles = 9 litres
Balthazar 16 bottles =12 litres
Nebuchadnezzar 20 bottles = 15 litres ...

The same names are used for bottles containing wine and port; however, Jeroboam, Rehoboam, and Methuselah refer to different bottle volumes.
