MUSCAT BLANC
A muscat variety that is possibly the oldest known grape, widely grown around the Mediterranean, and throughout Europe. Used primarily for making semi-sweet and sweet dessert wines.

MUSCAT BLANC Ŕ PETIT GRAINS: (See Muscat above).
NEBBIOLO: (has synonym names of Spanna in the northern hills, Picutener and Pugnet in N.W. Piedmont and as Chiavennasca grape in Lombardy).

The full name is Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains and the berries are quite small and round, but not always white. The spectrum includes pale green, pale yellow, golden, pink, red, brown, and black berries.

The cultivation of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grape was already common during Roman times and it is still widely practiced in this territory.

One of the oldest grapes grown to make wine, Muscat has hundreds of varieties, but Muscat Blanc is most widely planted and considered the best. It's signature aroma is actually grapes/raisins along with coriander, peach, orange, flowers and musk.

These include the Muscat Blanc, (aka Moscato di Canelli and Muscat Frontignon, all alias names for the premier cépage varietal Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains).

Ampelographers suspect that Aleatico maybe a dark skin of the French wine grape Muscat Blanc Ă Petits Grains which is part of the extensive Muscat family of grapes, believed to be the oldest family of Vitis Vinifera in the world.

Known as Muscat , Muscat Blanc and Muscat Canelli, it is marked by strong spice and floral notes and can be used in blending, its primary function in California .

Wines that are labelled Alsace Grand Cru must be from a named vineyard site and be made from one of these four varieties.

In France it is also known as Muscat Blanc (de Frontignan), Muscat à petits grains or Muscatel, in Portugal as Muscatel Branco, do Douro etc., in Spain as Moscatel Menudo Branco, Bruno etc., in Italy as Moscato Bianco, d'Asti etc.

Varying amounts of this aszú paste are then added to non-aszú must or wine made from a mix of Furmint, Muscat Blanc Ă Petits Grains, Hárslevelű and Orémus grapes, and left to ferment.
