NEGRETTE
A minor red-wine grape grown in an area southeast of Bordeaux, France. Blended with Gamay Noir, Syrah and Duras to produce local reds and rosés. Possibly identical to the Pinot St. George grape of California.

 


NEGRETTE: Minor grape grown in the region about 100 miles southeast of Bordeaux, France. Used for red wine and rose' blends along with Gamay Noir, Syrah and Duras grapes. The grape is thought by some to be known as Pinot St. George in California.

Has several synonym names including Cabernet Duras and Durade. Used to create red and rose' blended wines made from such varieties as Fer, Negrette, Syrah and Gamay Noir. Not to be confused with the appellation same name.
