Noah
The Noah grape is a cultivar derived from the grape species Vitis labrusca or 'fox grape' which is used for table, juice and wine production.

Noah: The first man to plant a vineyard and make wine, according to the author of Genesis. Unfortunately, he was also the first to overdo it in the drinking department and had to pay the price for that.

NOAH: 19th century (1869) labrusca derived white wine grape with somewhat "foxy" flavors. At last report small acreages are still planted on the eastern seaboard of the U.S. and in cooler areas of France.

"And Noah began to be a husbandman, and he planted a vineyard." --- Genesis 9:20
"So life's year begins and closes;
Days though shortening still can shine;
What though youth gave love and roses;
Age still leaves us friends and wine." ...

According to the Old Testament (Genesis 9:20), Noah planted a vineyard on Mt. Ararat. When Moses led the Hebrews to Canaan, they are said to have regretted leaving the wines of Egypt (Numbers 20:5).

The earliest written account of viniculture is in the Old Testament of the Bible which tells us that Noah planted a vineyard and made wine.
