North Coast - Napa is certainly the most famous area of this region, noted for its Cabernet Sauvignon. Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake County comprise the rest of the region.

 


NORTH COAST
A viticultural area in California comprising all the grape growing areas of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Solano, Lake and Marin Counties.

In the north Coast, heavy rains in late May arrived during the bloom period to reduce the crop by 20% to 30% overall. June and July provided mild summer weather that extended into the fall.

California - The North Coast
The Napa Valley remains central to the Californian wine industry. It lies just north of San Francisco Bay, and is home to many of the Cabernet Sauvignons for which the state has become famous.

The Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and other cooler areas of the north coast region produce the best wines. Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are the most prestigious, followed by Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

On the north coast, Badacsony is the most famous region, with Balatonfüred-Csopak to the east and to the west, Balatonfelvidék and the new region of Balatonmelléke. Their vineyards contain mostly Welschriesling, Müller-Thurgau and some Pinot Gris.
