Peach-flavored brandy

Peach: Specific fruit description, often found in Riesling or Gewurztraminer and sometimes in dessert wines.

Peaches: sometimes sensed in sweet, late-picked wines affected by Botrytis, or in many Muscat-flavored wines.
Peppermint: sometimes sensed in 100 percent, well-made Pinot noirs.

As with apple, peaches and other fruits, individual grape varieties have quite different characteristics.

The first of these was borrowed from the peach industry and modified for use with wine grapes. It is called Regulated Deficit Irrigation or RDI. As the name suggests, water is withheld from the vine during certain periods of the vine growing season.

This wine was pure peach/pear/apricot on the nose. It was one of those wines that you had to keep smelling in the glass because it kept showing more and more components.

So if they make a peach wine and 100% of the peaches are harvested in September 2008 they can't say that on the bottle! This baffles me completely. Why would you deliberately want to hide information from consumers?

Gewurztraminer has a spicy aroma and fruity flavors of peach, apricot, tropical fruits, and lychee. It can be dry or sweet.

Riesling

You are looking for an end-product that is green to lush gold in color, redolent of white peach, mineral, white flowers, citrus flowers and lively crisp brightness on the palate. The carbonation will be about half that of regular sparkling wine.

Johannisberg Riesling: The soft yet strong nose of peaches, apricots, lemons, and honey. Fresh and delicious young but can develop beautifully with age.

Viognier: French grape; new in Argentina and gaining popularity. Light gold; aromatic; melon, peaches, and slight white pepper.
Reds:
Bonarda: Intense red with violet hues; strong tannins; black fruit and plums; ages well.

Bellinis are made by combining Prosecco (an Italian sparking wine made from prosecco grapes in Veneto, close to Conegliano and Valdobbiadene) with peach puree.

Wine: It belongs to the top quality wines in northern wine-growing regions. In good years, it is full-bodied, with typical peach and muscatel aromas. In worse years, the wines are less bodied with dominating acidity and nettle-flavour.

Chardonnay wine tends to taste like fruits - melon, peach, etc. - and also many have an oaky flavor. It is one of the most popular and easiest to grow white grapes - it buds early, grows easily and has high ripeness levels.

Many people don't realize that wine can be made out of many kinds of fruit - blueberries, peaches, strawberries- anything that ferments. However, grapes are the most traditional base for wine.

The flavor of prosecco has been described as intensely aromatic and crisp, bringing to mind yellow apple, pear, white peach and apricot.

Lush examples from California and increasingly Australia are certainly common, where the grape's aromatic qualities - said to be reminiscent of peaches and apricots - shine through.

Depending on where they're made, they can be crisp and bone-dry, full-bodied and spicy or luscious and sweet. The flavor is often of peaches, apricots, honey, and apples and pairs well with duck, pork, and roast vegetables.
