Plush. Describes a wine that feels luxurious in the mouth.
Pomace. the collection of skins and seeds of the grapes after pressing.
Powerful. Describes a wine of intensity and strength.

In the mouth there is a lot of juicy, jammy, ripe black and red berry fruits upfront - carried by a very soft, velvety plush texture. Good acidity and medium tannins follow in the midpalate to balance off the fruit.

The varietal was relatively easy to grow in many regions, ripened early although unevenly at times, and in general was softer, plusher, and less tannic than its highbrow Bordeaux blending partner, Cabernet Sauvignon.

At quite a few new stores, such as Pour in New York City, wine is grouped by taste, such as "Bright," "Plush" and "Mellow." At others, such as Vino Vino in New York, wine is arranged by weight, from lightest-tasting to heaviest.

This was the first vintage in which tannin management cellar practices were widespread and manifested themselves in Cabernets that offered soft tannins that were plush in texture and relatively smooth.
