Pommard
The premier cru vineyards of Pommard are contiguous with those of Beaune, the broad spread narrowing to create a phalanx which runs directly through the middle of the commune, broken only by the village of Pommard itself.

Pommard (po-mar)
A well known wine producing village in Burgundy, France. Situated at the northern end of the Cote de Beaune, it produces primarily red wines from the Pinot Noir grape.

Hailstorms struck the Côte de Beaune hard in August, culminating in a hard fall on 23 August, which wiped out swathes of Volnay, Pommard, Beaune and Savigny. While some vineyards were barely touched, others suffered up to 90 per cent damage.

The reputed villages are Aloxe-Corton, Savigny, Pommard, Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay.

This program has succeeded admirably in increasing the number of quality clones available to growers. Nonetheless, in the new world, particularly in Oregon, wines of extraordinary quality continue to be made from the earlier Pommard and Wadensvil ...
