Pouilly-Fuissé (Poo-yee Fwee-SAY) - White Burgundy, Chardonnay-based, made in the region of the same name. Especially popular in the U.S.

Pouilly-Fuissé) The danger with Pouilly-Fuissés, particularly if they are the oaky versions, is that in hot, concentrated vintages they can be too alcoholic; top heavy wines lacking zip. There are one or two of these in 2002.

Name given to the Sauvignon in the Pouilly-on-Loire, from where name "pouilly-fumé" (not to be confused with the pouilly-on-Loire and pouilly-fuissé of Burgundy).

Clearly Mâcon, whether red or white, is the most obviously associated appellation, but there are more noteworthy names tied to individual villages which may offer good value and quality, such as the aforementioned Pouilly-Fuissé, ...

It is believed to be named after the village of Chardonnay in the Mâconnais region of France, where Pouilly-Fuissé is currently produced and it is possible that the variety was first bred there.

Pouilly Fuissé - Situated at the southern end of Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé vineyard is the most renowned of those in the Mâcon region. The vines grow in 5 villages : Pouilly, Fuissé, Chaintré, Vergisson and Solutré.

The best Mâconnais wines, which in terms of quality are different from the rest, are Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran, white wines produced with Chardonnay.

the laws of August 1st, 1905 and May 6th, 1919 rule the appellations in Burgundy. Territories composed of small crops called "climats" compose the appellations. That way we get the appellations Beaune, Chablis, Nuits, Meursault, Pouilly-Fuissé ...

In Burgundy, chardonnay makes some of the world's finest whites, referred to by their regions, such as Meursault, Chablis and Pouilly-Fuissé.
