Priorato

Wine PrimitivoPrivate Reserve

Moving across to the Mediterranean coast there are a number of DO regions, such as Priorato and Somontano, which for many years produced nothing of great interest.

Priorato
This small wine region, having ancient enological traditions, is to be considered among the most interesting ones of Spain. It is located near Tarragon, in Catalonia, facing the Mediterranean sea.

Priorato
Clos Mogador
Creates intense reds blended with Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Mourvèdre.

Priorato (Pree-oh-RAH-toe) - Wine region of Northeastern Spain, near Barcelona, gaining an increasing reputation for very hearty, dark red wines.

Important in Spain , where it's known as Garnacha Tinta, it is especially noteworthy in Rioja and Priorato.

This accolade is currently being fought over by Ribera del Duero (rich Tempranillo-based reds) and Priorato (small quantities of dense, mineralic wines from low yielding Grenache and Carignan planted on steep terraces).
