Also known as, Rabo de Ovelha do Minho, Estreito, Moscatel Bravo.

 


It is produced with white berried grapes, generally Códega, Gouveio, Malvasia Fina, Rabigato and Viosinho. White Ports are usually sweet and shortly aged in casks.

White Ports are produced the same way as red Ports, except that they use white grapesEsgana-Cão, Folgasão, Malvasia, Rabigato, Verdelho, and Viosinho.

Has the synonym name Rabigato that, itself under the alias name of Boal/Bual, is one of at least three other varieties used in the production of the fortified wines for which the island of Madeira is famous.

According to the Geilweilerhof DNA Database (above) the name is a synonym for each of four, or possibly more, white-wine producing varieties. Can be any one of the varieties Codega, Dõna Branco, Rabigato, or Semillon.
