Räuschling

RÄUSCHLING: Ancient minor grape still sparsely grown in the Alsace region of France. Used occasionally in the "Vin d'Alsace" generic white wine blends along with other wines made from the Knipperle, Chasselas, and Müller-Thurgau grapes.

 


Vitis cultivar released around 1990 that has genetic similarities to Furmint, Räuschling and Gamay. According to the Geilweilerhof database (above) has over a dozen synonym names. Recommended for Wine production. (No other details as yet).

The most cultivated grapes species at those times which were pretty common include Elbling, Räuschling, Silvaner, Muscat and Traminer.
