Raisiny
Tasting term describing a flavour close to dried grapes. It is generally due to excessive heat which dries out grapes still on the vine.

Raisiny: Having the taste of raisins from ultra-ripe or overripe grapes. Can be pleasant in small doses in some wines.

Late-harvest wines that are meant to be drunk at the end of a meal can often be slightly raisiny, which in some ports and sherries is desirable. However, a raisiny quality is a major flaw in a dinner wine.

Raisiny
When perceptible as a specific fruit, generally the sign of a simple table wine made from warm-weather or over-ripe grapes. Australian red wines are often raisiny.

Raisiny: the flavor one senses in wines made from grapes that have more or less dried (shriveled and/or raisined) on the vine; often encountered in hot-climate wines.

Raisiny: Smells reminiscent of raisins found in wines made from overripe grapes.
Red: Basic wine category for those wines made with black grapes and fermented with the grape skins. The full color range runs from bright cherry to bluish-black.

RAISINY
Mildly rich flavor due to excessive heat in the growing area which dries out grapes still on the vine. Considered a fault in most dry table wines.

Attractive: A lighter style. Fresh, easy to drink wine.
Balanced: Indicates that the fruit, acid, and wood flavors are in the right proportion.

The 2003 Volnay Clos des Santenots 1er Cru is raisiny, dark and juicy, with concentrated black-fruit flavors accented by anise and lemon juice in a wine of noteworthy concentration and length.

Puglia's main red grape variety producing ripe sometimes raisiny, chocolatey Mediterranean reds, best known in the DOC wines of Salice Salentino and Copertino

Aroma: Usually refers to the particular smell of the grape variety, i.e., "appley," "raisiny," "fresh" or "tired."
Body: The weight of wine in your mouth; commonly expressed as full-bodied, medium-bodied or medium-weight, or light-bodied.

Fino is fresh and tangy and needs drinking as soon as it is opened - and ideal match for tapas. Amontillado styles are richer and nuttier, and Oloroso is darker with complex raisiny, nutty flavours.

This dry, full-bodied red wine has a slight tartness with a raisiny sweetness of concentrated black cherries and the aroma of cedar or tobacco.

PX as it is referred as, this is other major Sherry grape. It adds a sticky sweetness and raisiny composition.

Modern German grape, a Riesling x Sylvaner cross, still rather uncommon but seen increasingly in sweeter, late-harvest wines from the Rhine. The better examples resemble Riesling, with a raisiny fruitiness.

Ruby-This is the simplest, and least expensive, style. It is often quite tasty, but stick with the major names which will be listed below. Ruby Port is a dark purplish color, quite sweet, with plummy, raisiny flavors.

Wines made with older or more neutral oak tend to have more vibrant aromas and cherry notes. While some producers delay harvest in order to increase sugar levels as a balance to Barbera's acidity, over ripeness can lead to raisiny flavors.

Even if the grapes survive the birds, if not picked promptly at maturity, the thin-skinned and tender berries shrivel and dry out rapidly (notice this shriveling in the photo), resulting in a raisiny aroma and neutral flavor.
