RODITIS: (aka Rhoditis). White-wine grape widely grown in central Greece. Usually blended with the Savatiano and Assyrtiko grape-wines in order to create "Retsina", the ubiquitous resinated wine associated with Greece.
the name comes from ansoria (from the French word Sorie, fawn, gold). It 's still grown in small measure to the Island of Giglio. By recent molecular genetic analysis, it seems there is a strong affinity with the grapes and Greek Sideritis Rhoditis.
