History
Sauvignon Blanc probably originated in the Bordeaux region of southwestern France and was well known by the Seventeenth Century.

Charles Wetmore, founder of Cresta Blanca winery, brought the first cuttings of Sauvignon Blanc to California in the 1880s.

Sauvignon grape is used for Pouilly-Fumé and Quincy and it is the exclusive variety used to in Sancerre. Sauvignon is mostly a Loire variety. In the Bordeaux region it is used as well as other white varieties to elaborate Graves and Sauternes.

Sauvignon Blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the Bordeaux region of France.

Sauvignon Blanc (So-veen-yawn-blah)
Lighter than Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc usually has a grassy citrus aroma. Flavors range from apple, pear, green tea, limes and freshly mowed grass. You can often detect a little smokiness.
