Savennieres (sah-ven-yair)
A village located in the Anjou region of the Loire Valley in France. Like most of the region the wines here are white and made from Chenin Blanc. Unlike the rest of the region these wines are always dry.

A small region in the Loire area of France that produces top quality Chenin Blanc.
SAVORY
A general descriptive term that denotes a wine that is round, flavorful, and interesting to drink.

There are a number of domaines making Savennieres that merits attention, led by Florent Baumard who produces three cuvées, those of the Clos du Papillon being the best in my opinion, and by Claude Papin of Chateau Pierre-Bise.

Also known as, Pineau de la Loire, Pineau d'Anjou, Pineau de Savennieres, Pineau de Briollay, Gros Pineau de Vouvray, Plant de Breze, Gout-Fort, Verdurant, Blanc d'Anjou, Confort, Cou-Fort, Quefort, Blanc d'Aunis, Franc-Blanc, Franche, Steen.

Chenin Blanc
White wine grape, responsible for many of the wines of the Loire Valley, including Vouvray & Savennieres. Can be made dry, semi-sweet or sweet. Grown extensively in California. Known as Steen in South Africa.
