Smooth
A wine tasting term that refers to a tactile sensation in the mouth (mouth feel) associated with the acids, rather than the tannins in the wine (see "soft").

Smooth: Wine that is silky and rich in glycerin.
Soave: A straw-colored dry white wine from around Verona in Italy's Veneto region. A semisweet, fruiter version, Recioto di Soave, is made from partially dried grapes.

Smooth: General textural term, favorable; contrasts with "rough" or "astringent," above.

Velvety
Smooth, subtle, rich and harmonious, with no edge of harshness. An imprecise texture description that implies delicious smoothness, typically used to describe red Burgundy and fine Pinot Noir.

Lactic Acid:A smooth (not sharp) acid created during malolactic fermentation. This acid is also found in milk.
Landwein:German quality classification. Landwein is a slightly higher quality level within the Tafelwein, the lowest designation.

Pinot Noir is a smooth silky wine that is extremely fruity. It is characterized with aromas and flavors of black cherry or rose petals along with hints of spiciness or herbal qualities. Pinot Noirs are enjoyed for their soft velvety texture.

MELLOW
Soft, smooth without harshness.

An unpleasant, rubbery smell of sulfur. This is mainly encountered in very old white wines.
