Spritzig A pleasant, lively acidity and effervescence noticeable only to the tongue and not to the eye and mostly found in young wines. Sulphury ...
spritzig: A wine with a perceptible level of dissolved carbon dioxide. These wines have a light 'fizzy' taste.
SPRITZIG German term for a lightly sparkling wine. SPUMANTE Italian term meaning ‘foaming' and referring to sparkling wines.
Spritzy (also spritz and spritzig) A characteristic that is first detectable visually as tiny specks of air in the wine and then as a crisp prickle or youthful acidity and carbon dioxide in the mouth. See also Perlant.
The French call it "petillant," the Germans "spritzig" and the Italians use my favorite term "frizzante." Some wines, such as Moscato d'Asti are made to have very light carbonation.
Carbon dioxide Harmless gas given off during fermentation. Usually released into the air, responsible for the bubbles in perle or spritzig wines.
