A racking cane is a stiff, plastic tube, usually "L"-shaped, that is attached to the racking hose to make racking easier.

RAIDE (STIFF)
It says itself of a tannic and acid wine.
RANCIO
Particular character taken by certain natural sweet wines during their ageing.
RAPEUX (HARSH)
It is said of a very astringent wine, giving the impression to scrape the palate.

Place the label onto some stiff paper or card stock. Try to pick a colour that matches the label or is neutral. Don't worry about aligning it with the sides. It can be as off-kilter as you want.

A foam made by beating egg whites and then sugar until very stiff, shiny peaks form. Used to lighten other mixtures, cooked as a pie topping, or cooked to provide a foundation for various cakes and desserts (see Dacquoise).

Hard
A wine that is stiff on the palate with pronounced tannins. These wines are undeveloped.
Heady
High in alcohol, very full-bodied with an intoxicating aroma.

They were either imposing stiff tariffs on each other's goods, or doing battle over respective colonial territory, or just fussing to annoy each other out of principle.

In the mouth, you get very similar flavors as were on the nose, along with a touch of honey and pear, all tightly wound by a stiffly acidic wrapper.
