Thin
Light and without body; watery. Thin is not a synonym of light, although the words are often incorrectly interchanged. Similar to "light-bodied" but more critical. Does not imply a pleasantly light wine but rather a bland, uninteresting one.

A synonym for shallow; it is an undesirable characteristic for a wine to be thin, meaning that it is watery, lacking in body, and just diluted.

A thin-skinned variety, merlot ripens earlier in the season then cabernet sauvignon and is less hardy, prone to a variety of ailments from shatter (the loss of potential fruit during flowering of the vine) to rot and mildew.

Watery - Thin, lacking in flavour.
Weak - Lacking grip typical for the wine; without character
Weedy - Aromas or flavours reminiscent of hay or grasses; not necessarily unpleasant unless exaggerated.

Roussanne can be thin and tart and is not often bottled on its own in Europe, being blended with Marsanne in the Rhõne and in other areas with Chardonnay.

Semillon: This thin-skinned grape ripens early, and is used mostly in Bordeaux, France. It has a grassy, "figgy" flavor. It is also grown in Australia and California, and is often blended with Sauvignon Blanc.

This grape matures and ripens slowly, and has a thin skin therefore it thrives in warm, dry climates. Limestone soil tends to produce more robust aromas in the finished wine.
