TRINCADEIRA: Red wine variety grown in the Alentejo region of Portugal and used to make a somewhat spicy varietal wine. Reportedly is a synonym name for the Castelão Francês variety.
Tinta Amarela is a synonym for Trincadeira Preta. A dark-skinned grape producing aromatic wines which is grown particularly in the Douro (mostly for Port production) and the Dão region.
CASTELÃO FRANCÊS: Red-wine grape grown in the Ribatejo and other regions of southern Portugal. Has synonym name of Periquita where grown in the Estremadura region nearby and (reportedly) Trincadeira in the Alentejo region.
Instead they focus on local Iberian varietals, the most common of which are Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz (or Aragonês, this is identical to the Tempranillo of Spain), Trincadeira (or Tinta Amarela), and Perriquita.
