Tuscany. Few place names in the world of wine evoke the same level of romance or the same feeling of warm anticipation as that of this ancient Italian region.

Like Piedmont, Tuscany's growing cycle was around three weeks earlier than usual, thanks to an unusually mild, dry winter and record temperatures in March and April.

The hot, dry climate, such as Tuscany provides, is where sangiovese thrives.

One of my favorite wine regions in the world is Tuscany, Italy, the home of, among others, Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Carmignano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and Morellino di Scansano.

Super Tuscan:Wines from Tuscany made using international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah rather than relying primarily on local varieties such as Sangiovese.

Sangiovese is the prominent grape of the Tuscany region of Italy, where it is used in producing Chianti. Chiantis can be found in a wide range of styles, from light to full-bodied. It is medium in tannin, but can be high in acidity.
