Varietal character
Varietal character refers to the specific traits of a given grape variety of the ensuing wine.

VARIETAL CHARACTER
The particular flavor characteristics associated with a grape picked at optimum maturity - (eg: distinctive "berrylike" taste of California Zinfandels, "blackcurrants" of Cabernet Sauvignon etc).

Varietal character describes how much a wine presents its inherent grape aromas.

While its varietal character is somewhat vague, its aromas and flavors often combine elements of berryish fruit, herbaceousness, and an earthy-leathery minerality.

Definitely I would welcome sections in articles that describe typical grape varietal character, or what a winery's or producer's wine taste like. Also I like to see articles about individual winemakers and wineries.

The wine has hardness and astringency with little varietal character when young and therefore is not usually presented in France as a single varietal wine and only rarely so in California.
